PILATES TESTIMONIALS
“Angela was recommended by a friend as someone who had helped resolve her back problems by building up core strength on an individual basis.Angela is passionate and enthusiastic about what she does, enables you to work on exercises that suit you particular physical problems and needs, with accompanying homework! She treats you with care and respect, and makes exercising enjoyable!” Linda Whitehead
“My name is Nicola and I was introduced to Angela by my Chiropractor in October 2010. Having suffered scoliosis for a number of years and pain from muscles being wrongly used within two sessions my posture, strength and flexibility was transformed. Angela’s expertise and knowledge of the way that muscles work meant that she provided exactly the right exercises for the benefit of my back. She is also extremely kind but firm to ensure that one receives maximum benefit from the sessions. I can highly recommend her and would like to say a big THANK YOU to her for all she has done.” Nicola
ANTE NATAL TESTIMONIALS
“I met Angela Lockwood when I was sixteen weeks pregnant and she has helped me prepare for the marathon of giving birth. I was unsure of how to train and Angela has guided me with great new programs and reassurance when I needed it. She has inspired me when I was at my lowest and listened to my concerns. She designed practical exercises for giving birth and post birth, which kept me motivated against all the odds. She opened spaces up for me in the gym that I never knew existed and she did not hesitate in helping me with nutritional advice, body posture and guiding me on other exercise possibilities while pregnant. I was frightened of how to make the gym work for me while I was pregnant, but Angela has shown me that during this crucial time that the gym is essential for my emotional and physical well being. I cannot thank Angela enough for guiding me through this tricky period and I look forward to her specific understanding and insightful advice about how to get my body back into shape after my child’s birth.”

“When I first met with Angela, I was extremely nervous. I had not exercised for over ten years (a combination of a busy lifestyle and terrible memories from school) but having been told to lose 3+ stone, I needed to start somewhere! I never honestly thought I would lose any weight, and certainly hadn’t thought I could keep up a training programme. But six months in, I am still going and have now lost 1.5 stone (and counting!) and this is ENTIRELY down to Angela. She has just been a fantastic support. She is always enthusiastic and encouraging, and has been keen to overcome my nervousness. I also feel safe in her hands – her instructions are clear, and I know that in pushing me to achieve more, she also knows when I also need to stop. I would have no hesitation in recommending Angela to anyone, and can assure them it will be fun!”
“After years of doing the same old thing in the gym I’ve now been truly inspired through my new personal training sessions with Angela. The hour is packed for different exercisers building on my core programme so it’s never boring – and each time I’m pushed a little harder. Having a session each week helps motivate me during the week to achieve the goals we set. After 6 weeks I can really feel the difference already – I’ve always been daunted by the stereotypical PT image, it’s really nothing like what I thought – it’s certainly not just for athletes or ‘WAGS’ – I’d recommend Angela to anyone!”

After finding out I was pregnant I stopped exercising completely – partly through the early stage fatigue, but mostly through a lack of knowledge of what, if any, kind of workout was ok. Angela was able to put me back on track first through the prenatal workshops and then by personal training sessions. I was pleased to find out in the workshops how much I could still do, including cardio, and reassured by actually having information from a reliable source about what the limits were and the (few) things to avoid. My gym programme now includes focused pre-natal exercises, which are helping to keep me healthy in pregnancy and should mean I’m in much better shape for later, and also Body Balance class. Although I had never attended this class before, Angela ensures it is tailored where needed meaning I’m still doing the whole class even at 28 weeks, and don’t think that will change anytime soon.

Having attended only a couple of Angela’s prenatal classes, just those two gave me confidence to carry on exercising, she showed exercises we could do and shouldn’t do, some different alternatives to the usual, and it was a great way to meet other like-minded ladies all at different stages of pregnancy. She explains the techniques very well and also obviously knows a lot about how the woman’s body works when pregnant. My only critisism would be that they aren’t frequent enough, once a week would have worked better for me personally.

“I started working with Angela when I was around 13 weeks pregnant (I am now in my 30th week, and I still enjoy my workouts!). Our training sessions are dynamic and fun, and the workouts she has designed have progressed with my pregnancy to ensure that I remain fit, active and strong. Her knowledge of pre-natal fitness is absolutely amazing, and she’s always provided top-notch advise and tips. I have a hectic work-life, and lately Angela has tailored my workouts so that I can do them at David Lloyd or at home using my own equipment – this has been really important and helpful.
Angela is very attentive to my personal needs, and every workout is custom-tailored – each one different from the last. I am looking forward to continuing to workout with Angela after my baby is born to return to fitness as soon as possible!”

I really enjoy them. I recommend them especially if you’re expecting a baby as you need extra help to keep your body working well whilst it copes with pregnancy changes. A few years ago I had a very painful bad back which led to taking painkillers constantly and meant I had to lie down at work. I had lots of physiotherapy and osteopathy but the pain remained severe. On the recommendation of a friend, I took up Pilates and surprised myself by curing the bad back and by becoming strong and more supple. I think that what was needed for me was to strengthen and move the whole body, not just try to remove the pain with exercises for specific areas. I think I have now gained a lot more core strength and improved my posture which helps protect my back. In addition, I’ve rediscovered the joy of feeling my body work well.
Throughout two pregnancies I did Pilates which kept my body strong and mobile. I had no back problems and I was back in normal clothes straight after delivery. Having tuition at home is very convenient and saves time travelling to a class elsewhere. I enjoy the one to one sessions and I feel calm and positive afterwards. Angela motivates and encourages me, constantly adjusting exercises to be challenging at the right level and I like feeling proud of my progress.

PRE NATAL WORKSHOP TESTIMONIALS
The pre-natal workshop was excellent. I have used a lot of the exercises during my gym sessions which are effective and easy to remember. So good to know I am exercising safely! I really enjoyed meeting other mums to be as well in a very relaxed and friendly environment. I will definitely be going to the next session.

“I recently attended the pre-natal workshop run by Angela Lockwood and I am so glad I went! It was a great opportunity to meet other mums to be and to talk through your experiences so far. We discussed a great deal about the do’s and don’ts relating to exercise, and you will be pleased to hear that they are a lot more Do’s than Don’ts J. Angela was able to answer many of our questions regarding worries and concerns when it came to exercise and gave us the reassurance and motivation that what we wanted to do was actually ok! We also learnt new, great exercises to strengthen all the muscles that we are going to need during childbirth and for that alone I would seriously recommend coming along!!?”

“I’ve been to both the pre and post natal workshops and have found both really beneficial. The pre natal sessions helped with my strength and core which kept me active and mobile throughout my pregnancy and labour. The post natal sessions helped me to continue to build back my strength and flexibility and it was great to try some different equipment and tailor it to exercises that would help me since having a baby. I would strongly recommend both these workshops to any mum or mum to be.”

As someone who enjoys regular exercise and uses it as a way to relieve stress, the prospect of a sedentary pregnancy was very daunting. I found Angela’s prenatal sessions reassured me that I could continue exercising safely and taught me how to do so. I liked the individual approach and found Angela’s encouragement to continue when aerobic activities got tough really helpful. I was able to change my usual running and aerobics to more spinning and swimming in the 3rd trimester very successfully. I exercised to the very end, completing a 1 hour zone spinning class the day I went into labour! I would highly recommend continuing to exercise throughout pregnancy as it made the experience much more enjoyable and helped me manage the demands of labour more easily.
